A valuable and long-time Client of ours who is a Main Contractor, requested our involved on dealing with any existing dampness to this large hotel complex situated within Pimlico, London.
Our surveyor Joe attended site to carry out our initial site survey to identify existing damp related issues, as shown in our site photos there was significant penetrating damp and water ingress affecting the front arched vaults to the lower ground. We also made note of rising dampness and hygroscopic salt contamination to various walls throughout the lower ground level.
The lower ground floor was required to be dry as this level would contain hotel rooms with ensuites, along with plant rooms, where we provided a full report & design drawing with our observations and recommendations.
Due to the penetrating dampness and water ingress to the vaults, Wing carried out our Type C cavity drain membrane system to multiple pavement vault areas. This involved our operatives installing the cavity membrane to both the walls, arched soffits and over the floor slab along with installing a perimeter channel around each vault room. As part of the Type C system, we installed 3 groundwater sump pump systems to pump water up and away from the vaults to the gravity drainage system.
