Type A Waterproofing Systems

We also have experience in surveying and installing both external and internal Type A waterproofing systems to British Standards that can usually be carried out in both new builds and existing structures. These can be installed internally within the building, or externally:

External Type A membranes
With new builds, or new below-ground structures this can offer us the chance of installing external Type A waterproofing system that often comes in the form of a composite sheet membrane that we would install prior to the structure itself. This robust membrane is usually ‘pre-applied’ meaning we would lay the membrane on site prior to the casting of the concrete structure.

We have also carried out liquid waterproofing applications to the external perimeter of the ground floor level, or basement capping beams up to the DPC level that often is not considered when looking just at the basement internal area, although is a ‘high risk’ location. Please also see our Deck Waterproofing Systems section.

Internal Type A waterproofing
We frequently carry out Type A (barrier) waterproofing internally to properties that is often in the form of a cementitious application, or a ‘tanking’ render system that can be carried out to earth retaining structures to provide a waterproofing barrier to lateral damp penetration. In accordance with BS 8102 2022 our rendering system provides a continuous barrier and is typically applied to basements, cellars, understep areas, lift pits as well as swimming pools.

The Type A waterproof tanking render system can also be carried out in pavement vaults that our clients would like to utilise as dry space storage, or even a habitable area once the appropriate ventilation/heating has also been installed by others. In LONDON, space is valuable and once the vault areas are dry they can be optimised for the Client’s use of their choice.

The key advantages of the internal rendering system is that it is highly versatile and can be carried out to  numerous surfaces with little future maintenance necessary.

Wing often will carry out a form of Type A waterproofing prior to the cavity drain membrane system so two forms of waterproofing provide protection.
